Opposition Members Demanded to Present Themselves at Police Stations

Recent reports indicate that numerous citizens with opposition views are being summoned to police departments or investigative bodies at 17:30. This statement was made by the 'Initiative of Five Human Rights Defenders'.

“It is evident that with this ‘random coincidence,’ the ruling force is trying to illegally deprive citizens of the opportunity to participate in the peaceful assembly called for 18:00,” the announcement states.

The Public Relations Office of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) has also issued a statement: “Since early this morning, ARF members and supporters are being invited to police regional departments without any grounds, where they are illegally urged to refrain from participating in the gathering organized in Yerevan at 18:00 in support of Samvel Karapetyan, and in some cases, they are kept in police stations for pointless interrogations.”
