Driver's License Will Be Digitized: National Assembly Approves Legislation
Drivers who do not carry their plastic driver's license will not be fined. Today, the National Assembly approved a package of amendments with 62 votes in favor, 0 against, and 25 abstentions.
In Armenia, the driver's license will exist not only in plastic card form but also in a digital version. The digitization of vehicle registration and driver's licenses allows for the availability of an electronic, digital version of the license alongside the physical plastic card, which will be recognized as legitimate within the territory of Armenia.
Law enforcement officers will technically be able to view a person's entire driving history on digital platforms, such as tablets, using facial recognition technology. These legislative provisions will take effect on September 1, 2025.
