New Regulations on Traffic Accidents
Drivers involved in a traffic accident with two vehicles are required to leave the accident scene within 20 minutes after the incident and move their vehicle to a legally permissible location, unless the vehicle has technical malfunctions that prohibit its operation. This was stated today by Edvard Aghajanyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction, while presenting the relevant bill for the first reading in the National Assembly.
Another proposal suggests that should drivers fail to leave the site of the accident involving only two vehicles and not move the vehicle to another legally permissible location within 20 minutes after the accident, they will be subjected to a fine amounting to 30 times the minimum wage, provided that the vehicle does not have such malfunctions that would legally prohibit its operation.
“The legislative reform aims to help reduce the risks of artificial traffic congestion, considering the severe and often hours-long traffic jams that arise as a result, which have unspeakably negative effects on our citizens in terms of safety, economics, environmental issues, and health,” the primary speaker stated.
