Turkey Raises Ship Transit Fees
The Turkish authorities are increasing the transit fee for ships passing through the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits by 15% starting from July 1, bringing it to $5.83 per gold franc, announced the country's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The transit fee had remained unchanged for nearly 40 years until 2022, when it started to rise annually. In 2024, the transit fee increased by almost 15%, reaching $5.08 per gold franc. The amount is calculated based on the gold franc established since the signing of the Montreux Convention in 1936, which regulates navigation in the straits.
