Moscow Considers Baku's Actions Unfriendly

The Russian Foreign Ministry has delivered a note of protest to Azerbaijani Ambassador Rakhman Mustafayev in Moscow, demanding the immediate release of Russian journalists arrested in Baku. This was stated in a message from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“On July 1, the Azerbaijani Ambassador Rakhman Mustafayev was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. During a meeting with Deputy Minister Mikhail Galuzin, a protest was registered concerning Baku's unfriendly actions and deliberate steps by Azerbaijan to undermine bilateral relations,” the ministry's statement highlighted.

“A note was handed to the head of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission demanding the immediate release of Russian journalists Igor Kartavikh and Evgeny Belousov, who were arrested in Baku,” the ministry noted.

The Foreign Ministry emphasized that Baku's attempts to accuse Russian law enforcement authorities of abuse of power amount to interference in Russia's internal affairs. It is worth recalling that Azerbaijan's Interior Ministry has opened a criminal case against ‘Sputnik Azerbaijan’, resulting in several arrests.
