Ministry of Emergency Situations Reports on Consequences of Yesterday's Strong Winds

Starting from June 28, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia received numerous reports regarding damages caused by strong winds. Information was reported from the regions of Armavir, Ararat, and several administrative districts of Yerevan, concerning tilted and fallen trees, as well as damage to building roofs and advertising billboards.

The relevant subdivisions of the emergency service promptly responded to all incidents, aiming to quickly eliminate the consequences of emergencies caused by the wind, prevent potential dangers, and ensure the safety of the population and infrastructure.

In particular, on June 28, rescue operations were conducted on Gyulikevkhyan and Vazgen Sargsyan streets in Yerevan. On-site, work was carried out for cutting down and removing fallen trees and securing areas.

On June 30, numerous reports were registered not only in Yerevan but also in the cities of Armavir in the Armavir province and Ararat in the Ararat province due to strong winds. The rescue service recorded and handled 14 incidents, 9 of which occurred on Mamigonian, Andranik, Ler Kamsar, Shinarar, Nikoghayos Tigranyan, and Bouzhashkhraut streets, as well as in Mashtots Avenue.

At the mentioned addresses, rescuers carried out tree cutting and removal, as well as dismantling and securing of damaged roofing structural elements. A report was received at the regional emergency management center of Armavir, stating that a roof had been ripped off a building on Mkhitar Heratsi street in Armavir city and had fallen on parked cars, damaging 8 vehicles. Responding rescuers dismantled approximately 500 square meters of roof and around 60 meters of metal railings from two buildings. Thanks to the prompt actions of the rescuers, the emergency situation was resolved.

Another report indicated that the roof of a building on Baghramyan street in Armavir city had been blown off by the wind and had fallen onto a gas distribution station. With the assistance of engineering equipment, rescuers dismantled the metal-structured roof, which measured approximately 450 square meters, and removed it from the gas distribution station. A total of 23 rescue workers participated in the dismantling operations.

At the intersection of Yerevan-Baghramyan streets, rescuers, in cooperation with personnel from the appropriate organization, dismantled a weakened advertising billboard. In the village of Shenik in Armavir province, rescuers, together with citizens, cut and removed 2 trees. In the city of Ararat in the Ararat province, rescue divisions conducted roof reinforcing work on houses. According to the information received, 11 vehicles were damaged due to the strong winds.
