Leader of Local Azerbaijani Community Arrested in Yekaterinburg
The head of the "Azerbaijan-Ural" organization, Shahin Shikhlinski, has been arrested in Yekaterinburg. Shikhlinski's vehicle was stopped near the "Baku Plaza" shopping center, where security forces broke the windows and pulled the man out of the car. He was arrested alongside his son but was released shortly after.
Shikhlinski had been interrogated a few days prior during a raid conducted by security forces in Yekaterinburg. According to local media reports, the individual of Azerbaijani descent was previously considered a potential 'beneficiary' in the murder case of trader Yunis Pashaev, who was stabbed to death in the street in 2001.
It is noteworthy that earlier today, Azerbaijani businessman Yusif Khalilov, co-owner of the Alexeyevsky market, was also arrested in Voronezh.
