Our Relations Will Take a New Form: Statement from Iran
The collaboration between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will now take on a new form. This was stated by Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in an interview with the state-owned IRIB TV and Radio Corporation.
“From now on, our relations with the agency will take a new shape. The law passed by the Iranian parliament has clarified the path for cooperation (with the IAEA), while the decision on the type of cooperation has been left to the discretion of the Supreme National Security Council,” he said.
The minister added that inspections have been suspended, and Iran currently does not see a possibility to accept IAEA inspectors. “We have not yet made a decision regarding receiving Grossi personally, and concerning the inspectors, we need to examine whether this will comply with the provisions of parliament's law,” Araqchi noted, adding that the damage caused to nuclear facilities by American airstrikes is “significant and serious.”
It is noteworthy that on June 25, Iranian parliament members approved the text of a bill to suspend cooperation with the IAEA. On June 26, the Guardian Council of the Constitution of Iran validated this document.
