Another Criminal Case Initiated

Today, during the arrest of Mikael Ajapahyan at the Mother See, the legal activities of law enforcement bodies were obstructed by a group of individuals. As a result, a criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of hindering justice.

It is reminded that during the ongoing investigation of the criminal case at the RA Investigative Committee’s Department for Particularly Important Cases, a decision was made to pursue public criminal prosecution against Mikael Ajapahyan, the leader of the Shirak Diocese, under Article 422, Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code. He is accused of making public calls aimed at seizing power and violently overthrowing the constitutional order, using mass media and information and communication technologies.

In this regard, on June 27, 2025, a decision was made to request the court to apply detention as a measure of restraint against the accused, Mikael Ajapahyan, who is currently at liberty. The execution of this arrest decision has been entrusted to the employees of the RA National Security Service in accordance with the law.
