Armenian Trucks Unable to Cross Georgian Customs Post
Armenian trucks loaded with frozen fish products are stuck at the Lars customs post on the Georgian border. Customs officials are not allowing the vehicles to cross into Georgian territory.
Fish production companies have reported to Hetq that for the past six days, the Georgians have been artificially delaying the exit of their trucks loaded with fish products from Georgia, providing neither official documentation nor reasons for this delay.
“When the drivers approach, they are told to wait. But there is a time limit for fish; it must reach point A from point B in nine days, otherwise, it will be sent back, and both we and the exporter will suffer. We don’t know what we will do,” said the transporters.
Interestingly, the trucks have already ascended to Kazbegi, only to be sent back from that point. If they were supposed to be sent to Gori, they could have been redirected from Sadakhlo; why bring them to Kazbegi only to send them back again? The trucks have used fuel and paid for parking fees, reaching Kazbegi, only to be turned back from there,” the transporters explained.
