I Will Be President Until the End of the War: Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he needs to serve until the end of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. He made this declaration in an interview with the British Sky News channel.

Zelensky's presidential term is set to expire in May 2024, after five years in office. “I may not be the best person to lead Ukraine to the end of the war, but I am the most experienced,” Zelensky told journalist Mark Austin.

Just the day before, Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian President's Office, had stated that Zelensky should run for a second term, as he is “the best president” the republic has seen since independence.

In January of this year, during an interview with American blogger Lex Fridman, Zelensky remarked that discussing voting before the end of the conflict is “inappropriate” due to the difficult situation and the need to focus on current challenges. At the same time, the politician confessed that presidential elections in Ukraine could take place “90 days after the end of the war with Russia.”

Previously, Zelensky had called on the United States to use force to halt the conflict in Ukraine.
