Head of Iran's Intelligence Service Killed in Tehran

The head of Iran's Basij intelligence service has been killed in Tehran. According to a statement from the IRGC, General Mohammad Taqi Yousefvand was killed on June 23 during an Israeli airstrike in Tehran.

On the morning of June 24, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli army had eliminated hundreds of militants from the Basij structure the previous day. The statement described it as a 'tool of the terrorist regime.' The Basij is one of the five main branches of the IRGC, with branches across much of Iran and responsible for internal security and law enforcement.
