Western Countries Have Not Found the Courage to Condemn US Strikes
Western countries have not found the courage to condemn US strikes against Iran during the latest emergency session of the UN Security Council dedicated to the Iran-Israel conflict. As stated by the UK’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Barbara Woodward, all efforts should focus on de-escalating tensions.
Representatives from the UK and France noted that their countries did not participate in the US strikes today on Iranian nuclear facilities. Interestingly, Woodward decided to call for restraint and a return to negotiations primarily directed at Iran rather than the US and Israel. She continued, “Iran's refusal to cooperate with the IAEA carries further risks.”
It should be noted that a draft resolution condemning US strikes on Iran has been introduced.
