Medvedev's Statement Angers Trump
In response to U.S. President Donald Trump's concerns regarding the possible transfer of nuclear weapons to Iran, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council, stated that Russia has no intention of doing so. Unlike Israel, Moscow has signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Earlier, Medvedev remarked that after strikes by the U.S. on Iran, "a number of countries are ready to immediately supply their nuclear warheads to Iran." Trump, commenting on Medvedev's statement regarding the situation surrounding Iran, demanded to be "immediately informed" if information about the willingness of several countries to supply nuclear warheads to the Islamic Republic is confirmed.
Regarding President Trump's concerns, Medvedev condemned the U.S. strikes on Iran, stating they failed to achieve their goals. However, he emphasized that Russia does not intend to transfer nuclear weapons to Iran, as, unlike Israel, they are signatories to the Nuclear Weapons Treaty. He also reminded that the treaty on further reductions and limitations of strategic offensive arms between the Russian Federation and the United States is still in effect.
