Karekin II on the Arrest of Samvel Karapetyan

The anti-church campaign unleashed by the authorities poses a serious threat to national unity and directly strikes at the Armenian statehood. This was stated by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, in the courtyard of the Mother Cathedral.

“Recently, illegal persecution was carried out against national benefactor Samvel Karapetyan. A country cannot be built on oppression; justice and solidarity cannot be established in an atmosphere of threat and fear,” said the Catholicos.
