Significant Traffic Changes in Yerevan
Starting from June 20, there will be changes in the organization of traffic on Mashtots Avenue, Khorenatsy, Beirut, and Italy streets. This was announced by the Yerevan municipality.
"The public transport routes will be altered from Mashtots Avenue to the 'Victory' bridge and in the opposite directions. According to the changes, the route from Mashtots Avenue – Khorenatsy street intersection - Mashtots Avenue tunnel - 'Victory' bridge will be replaced. Instead, public transport traveling on this route will now go through Mashtots Avenue – Khorenatsy street intersection – Khorenatsy - Beirut – Argishti streets - 'Victory' bridge, with the reverse direction being 'Victory' bridge – Argishti - Italy – Khorenatsy streets - Mashtots Avenue – Khorenatsy street intersection.
Due to these changes, there will be several alterations in traffic organization in these road sections. Specifically, public transport traveling onto the first zone at the Mashtots Avenue – Amiریان street and Mashtots Avenue – Khorenatsy street intersections will be able to proceed from the first zone 'straight and left', regulated by a separately installed traffic light for that zone. A trial version of a traffic light marked 'BUS' will be implemented.
Access and parking for other vehicles at the intersections of Mashtots Avenue towards Amiրյan street and Khorenatsy street will be prohibited at the end of Mashtots Avenue. Right turns from Mashtots Avenue onto Amiրյan street towards Saryan street and from Mashtots Avenue – Khorenatsy street intersection onto Saryan street will only be allowed from the second lane.
Simultaneously, at the Mashtots Avenue – Amiրյan street intersection, an additional right lane coming from the direction of 'Victory' bridge will be restored. The designated zone for public transport will be dismantled from the Mashtots Avenue – Khorenatsy street intersection to the Mashtots Avenue – Surb Grigor Lusavorich street intersection.
On Khorenatsy street, from the Mashtots Avenue – Khorenatsy street intersection to the Khorenatsy – Beirut streets intersection, the first lanes in both directions will be allocated for public transport. Stopping of vehicles in this road section will be prohibited, and public transport stopping points will be organized.
The second lane on Beirut street will be allocated for public transport. The left edge lane on Italy street will be set aside for public transport. The route changes will affect bus routes No. 1, 5, 23, 27, 33, 34, 36, 43, 47, 67, 77, and 100, as well as microbus routes No. 24 and 75," the statement said.
