The demand for identification cards has recently increased due to the government's announced declaration process. The Ministry of Internal Affairs' migration and citizenship service has committed to ensuring the issuance process of identification cards with new digital solutions. This was stated in a press release by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

Two printing machines for identification cards have also been launched, resulting in improved print quality and system reorganization. As of June 17, 2025, the service has received 131,104 applications for identification cards, of which 120,066 cards have been printed, and 11,038 cards are in the printing phase. There are 52,160 citizens waiting in the appointment system, with 40,645 of them located in Yerevan. In 2024, 161,000 individuals received identification cards, which is two and a half times more than the figures for 2023; thus, by June 2025, the figures are expected to approach last year's service volumes.

“We have initiated a number of solutions that would allow us to expand the capacity for the issuance of identification cards and accommodate a greater volume of service for our citizens. Currently, we can service around 1,000 identification cards per day, but this number is already subject to doubling, as we have acquired a laser system for the two new printing machines, which will enable faster printing of identification cards and increase our output,” stated Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.

“The Migration and Citizenship Service is currently working tirelessly to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens, including adherence to legally established timelines. We can confirm that the issue of delays in issuing cards due to backlogs is now in the past,” the statement added.

According to Anna Makaryan, head of the Issuance Department of Identity Documents, the service's technical officials have examined the online appointment platform and discovered cases where individuals are in line for an ID card even though they already possess a valid one. “We urge our citizens to cancel their appointments if they have not lost their valid identification card. It should also be noted that all territorial subdivisions of the Migration and Citizenship Service have identification cards that have been issued but remain in the subdivisions,” said Anna Makaryan.

If you do not yet have an identification card, you need to go to the 'Issuance of Identification Cards' section on the migration.e-gov.am website, select an available date and time, and go for service. In the regions, services are also provided in a live queue format. You can approach any operational territorial subdivision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs outside of Yerevan and take a coupon from the queue terminal on-site, wait, and be served.
