Baku Expects Steps from Yerevan: Hajiyev

Armenia could be part of discussions on major trans-regional transport communications. This was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, during the GLOBSEC 2025 forum in the Czech Republic. He pointed out that Baku expects steps from Yerevan regarding the "Zangezur corridor."

“This is possible, we are discussing it. Our goal is not to see another isolation, marginalization in the region, but at the same time, we also have certain expectations from Armenia. We now expect that Armenia should take an important first step regarding the 'Zangezur corridor.' I know that some of my Armenian colleagues are upset by the term corridor; I always joke that all of Azerbaijan’s territory is a corridor. Well, call it a passage, we want to first establish a connection with Nakhchivan, as we have been deprived of that opportunity for 30 years. As soon as there is a connection with Nakhchivan, I believe that other opportunities can open up for Armenia as well. But we also would like to see Armenia as part of the main transport communications,” said Hajiyev.
