Yes, they are being evacuated, we'll see what happens: Trump
Due to the increase in security risks, part of the U.S. embassy staff in Iraq and their families will be evacuated, according to BBC reports.
“We continually assess the number of necessary staff at our embassies. Based on the latest analysis, we have decided to reduce our mission's presence in Iraq,” a representative of the U.S. State Department told BBC.
This move follows negotiations between the U.S. and Iran. In a conversation with reporters, Trump confirmed plans for a partial evacuation of American personnel from the Middle East amid rising tensions in the region.
“Yes, they are being evacuated because the Middle East can be a dangerous place. We have ordered their removal. After that, we'll see what happens,” Trump said during a press briefing in Washington.
Trump also stated that he will not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. “They cannot have nuclear weapons; it’s very simple. We will not allow that,” he emphasized.
