The Church Will Have a New Catholicos of All Armenians: Alen Simonian

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, wrote on Telegram: "Let me offer a few recommendations:

1. All individuals who are involved or will be involved with Kocharian or Serj’s teams can have no political future; these forces are remnants of the past and are the dinosaurs of the political arena. When Armenia eventually has a new government, it will certainly not emerge from these circles. Changing parties, growing a beard, and dyeing hair will not save you.
2. Our Armenian Apostolic Holy Church will have a new Catholicos of All Armenians, and all those clergymen and individuals who today are placing themselves in positions of authority and speaking of high values, sanctities, and even the cosmos, in order not to answer the question of whether their nephew or child is acceptable for celibacy and are trying to defend the indefensible, will face a new reality or will leave with the old. It’s better to be silent.
3. The opposition has exceeded all expectations by repeating the mistakes of past decades, and the government, with popcorn in hand, continues to watch the impeachment, the unwanted prime ministers, and the race of those blinded by greed and rage. (See point 1)
4. If some in Holy Etchmiadzin think that the strategy of 'entering caves until the danger passes' will change anything, you are mistaken. If there is someone within the same circles who believes that illegal actions will be a solution and that someone’s black clothing will save them from accountability before the law, they are even more mistaken. Therefore, the sooner you confront reality, the easier it will be for all of you.
5. In the Republic of Armenia, power belongs to the people. It is not the journalists who live on your salaries, nor those who have not held positions and are hoping for new ones, nor the drinkers who falsely praise your offspring, nor the uneducated individuals writing nonsense on Facebook from Russia and America. It is our wise Armenian people who live and work under our sun, who know all of you better than you know yourselves. If you want power, go to the people. If you can, go to the people."
