Catholicos Garegin II Has Violated the Vow of Celibacy: Vahagn Aleksanyan

It has been revealed that Garegin II, the Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Church, has violated the vow of celibacy, which is an established fact. A celibate cannot be the Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

This statement was made by Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, during a broadcast on Public Television. He emphasized, 'There should be some commission or group formed by the faithful of the Armenian Apostolic Church to free the Holy See from the violation of vows and desecration. A new spiritual leader should be elected, one who corresponds to the values of the Armenian Apostolic Church. They are not doing it; it should be done by the faithful people of the Armenian Church—with love and without violence.'
