Ukraine Did Not Attend Body Exchange Meeting
Ukrainian military personnel's 1212 bodies have been transferred to the exchange area, announced the representative of the Russian negotiation team, Lieutenant General Alexander Zorin. The day before, Zorin stated that the Russian side had delivered the first batch of fallen Ukrainian servicemen, which consists of the 1212 bodies of the deceased.
“Unfortunately, no one from the Ukrainian side reached out to us today; the exchange did not take place,” said the Russian general.
The coordinating headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war reported on Saturday that the exchange of bodies of the deceased between Ukraine and Russia, which had been agreed upon during the last phase of negotiations in Istanbul, has been postponed until next week.
“Instead of consistently executing the agreed algorithm, the Russian side resorted to unilateral actions that had not been coordinated within the joint process,” the statement said. There are signals that the transfer of bodies will be moved to next week, with Russia awaiting confirmation from Ukraine.
