Why We Agreed to the Last Points of the Treaty: Mirzoyan Clarifies

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan has addressed the question of why Armenia accepted the last two points of the peace treaty: “There came a time when we thought that further negotiations on the remaining disputed formulations were unlikely to yield the desired outcome, and a situation would arise where further discussions, which again had a vague outlook, would put already agreed upon significant formulations in question. For this reason, we expressed our agreement on the final version of the last proposal. It is standard negotiation practice; in any negotiations, in the end, one party says, ‘Okay, what you said last is acceptable,’ and that is where an agreement occurs,” he stated.
