White House on Kyiv's Attacks on Russian Airports

The White House asserts that President Donald Trump was not informed in advance about Kyiv's plans to attack Russian airports. This was stated by White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt during a press briefing, according to The New York Times.

“I spoke with him about this this morning. He remains optimistic about progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine, progress that we are witnessing,” she stated.

Levitt reminded that significant progress has been made with the support of the U.S. President in just four months. “At this time last year, it was hard to imagine that Russia and Ukraine would be conducting direct negotiations,” she noted.

The spokesperson also addressed whether Trump continues to support the legislative initiative to tighten sanctions against Russia being prepared in the U.S. Congress. “He prudently keeps this tool in his arsenal to use if necessary,” the White House press secretary added.
