Next Round of US-Iran Negotiations May Not Take Place
The sixth round of negotiations between Iran and the US is in question. The current situation is very uncertain, and the next phase of talks may not occur at all.
As reported by a TV channel, citing a senior Iranian official, this uncertainty is due to the US's inconsistency. According to CNN, the source condemned the US's new proposal, stating that "at first glance, it is perceived as inconsistent and fragmented, very unrealistic, and contains excessive demands."
"The fact that the Americans constantly change their positions has been the main obstacle to the success of the negotiations and now complicates matters more than ever," the source remarked, adding that the new proposal directly contradicts previous agreements.
"The text clearly contradicts the last agreement reached during the fifth round of negotiations; Iran's position on uranium enrichment is firm and unwavering," the official stated.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has declared that the agreement with Iran will not allow for uranium enrichment.
It should be noted that since April 12, Iran and the US have held five rounds of negotiations mediated by Oman, aiming to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear program. The last round of negotiations took place in Rome on May 23, after which the parties "agreed to meet again soon."
