Russia Undergoes Massive Attack Overnight, Defense Ministry Reports

On the night of June 2, air defense systems destroyed 162 drones launched from Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.

The largest number of drones was shot down in the Kursk region, totaling 57. In Belgorod, 31 drones were destroyed, in Lipetsk 27, and 16 in Voronezh. An additional 11 aircraft were eliminated in the Bryansk and Ryazan regions. The Oryol region recorded 6 drones, Crimea had 2, and one more was spotted in the airspace of the Tambov region.

There are no reports of casualties or damage resulting from the attack.

It should be noted that Ukrainian drones targeted military facilities in the Irkutsk, Murmansk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the attacks on military airfields in the Irkutsk and Murmansk regions resulted in aircraft igniting.

The military prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Security Service of Ukraine has been preparing for the attacks for over a year and a half. He added that the operation's “headquarters” is located next to one of the FSB's regional subdivisions on Russian territory. All individuals involved in the operation have now been removed from Russian territory.
