What Happens When a Celibate Cleric Breaks His Celibacy Vow: Pashinyan

Some are concerned that I am not officially married. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, on his Facebook page.

"Half of our spiritual elite are in the same situation, and that doesn't bother some people," Pashinyan wrote.

"So what happens when it turns out that a celibate cleric has violated his vow of celibacy? He loses his office, rank, and pillar. Now, what is morally more honorable: to resign voluntarily or to fall into the turmoil of contemplation: will there be an investigation, will the truth be uncovered?" Pashinyan added.
