There Will Be No Army of the Poor, Says Haik Sargsyan
The aim of the proposal for short-term military service in exchange for money is not to create an army of the poor. This was stated by the author of the bill, Haik Sargsyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, in response to questions from reporters in the National Assembly.
“Of course, there will not be an army of the poor; rather, it will be the opposite. The aim of our proposal is for everyone to serve, including the middle class and the wealthy,” he said.
The MP from the ruling party assured that there are no disagreements within his faction regarding the law, despite delays in its adoption. “The continuous discussions indicate that the topic is very important, which is why it is being debated for a long time; there is no other reason,” Sargsyan noted.
