Tavush Region Judge and Family Members Summoned by Asset Forfeiture Department
The judge of the Tavush region’s general jurisdiction court, Samvel Mardanyan, along with his wife and son, have been summoned today by the Asset Forfeiture Department of the Prosecution Office regarding assets of illegal origin. An investigation has been conducted concerning the properties owned by them, as reported by Hetq.
Samvel Mardanyan, who has held the judgeship since 1996, his wife Shushanik Badalyan, and their son Armen Mardanyan, presented themselves at the Asset Forfeiture Department of the Prosecution Office, where they can familiarize themselves with the materials of the case and present their positions and evidence.
It is noted that the Prosecution Office is not disclosing at this stage what specific assets they intend to confiscate or what monetary claims they have against the judge's family. They justify this by stating that the interested parties may submit clarifications and evidence, which could lead to alterations in the list of assets subject to forfeiture or their amounts. Therefore, they refrain from publishing the list beforehand.
