Rubio Announces Visa Cessation for Chinese Students in the U.S.

The United States will begin phasing out visas for Chinese students. This was announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the social network X.

“The U.S. will start canceling visas for Chinese students, including those affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party or studying in key sectors,” he wrote. Rubio added that the U.S. will revise visa requirements for applicants from China, including those from Hong Kong. The new measures will facilitate more thorough checks during the visa issuance process.

It has also been reported that the Biden administration wants to restrict China's access to software for semiconductor development. Notably, key Senate Democrats have urged President Donald Trump's administration to reconsider agreements regarding the supply of artificial intelligence chips to Middle Eastern countries. Democrats are concerned that advanced technologies could leak to China and Russia, affecting the supply chains of American companies.
