Human Rights Defender on the 'Exemption from Service for Monetary Compensation' Law

If the concerns regarding the provisions of the 'Exemption from Service for Monetary Compensation' bill are not addressed, Armenia's Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan does not rule out appealing to the Constitutional Court. She mentioned this during a press briefing after a government meeting.

“At this moment, I still hope that my colleagues will take into account all the observations we have presented and that we will not have these provisions,” said Manasyan.

She emphasized that any social stratification in our country is unacceptable, which could also be linked to the fulfillment of constitutional obligations. “There cannot be legal regulations and mechanisms in the country that, at least in terms of public perceptions, could create an impression that the privileges associated with the fulfillment of any obligation might depend on an individual's wealth status, that is, on whether a person has money or not,” noted Manasyan.
