Zelensky Appeals to the U.S. Senate

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the U.S. Senate has no obstacles to adopting a new package of sanctions against Russia for allegedly refusing to agree to a ceasefire. His remarks were quoted from a press conference with Friedrich Merz by the European Pravda.

Zelensky asserts that in the current circumstances, a strong package of sanctions from the United States is urgently needed. “Russia does not agree to a ceasefire. I believe that today nothing prevents the Senate from expressing political will and voting to adopt this package,” he stated.

The politician believes that the restrictions will help establish peace in Ukraine and strike at the Russian economy.

On May 22, the U.S. Senate threatened to impose a 500% secondary tariff on Russia if Moscow proposes unacceptable conditions for a ceasefire in Ukraine in the near future.
