“It is important to make our continent a zone of peace and stability, an example of sustainable economic, social, and cultural development,” said the Russian leader in a video address to the participants of the conference.

Putin is confident that this event will serve the development of new important approaches to strengthening international peace and stability, as well as promote dialogue for the welfare of all countries and peoples.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Russia and China refute the West's thesis about the inevitability of confrontation between great powers.
