What Bagratyan Proposes to Solve Traffic Congestion
To address the issue of traffic congestion in Yerevan, government ministries could be relocated to various regions, thus relieving the capital and invigorating life in the regions. This proposal was presented today by Sergey Bagratyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction, during the announcements time in the National Assembly.
“By the end of the year, it is possible to distribute ministries especially in the border regions of Yerevan,” Bagratyan said. According to him, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure could be based in Kotayk, the Ministry of Finance in Aragatsotn, the Ministry of Defense in Syunik, and the Ministry of Environment in Gegharkunik.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports could be in Shirak province, the Ministry of Economy in Armavir, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Issues in Tavush, while the Ministry of Health could be located in Lori province.
Moreover, the deputy proposed that the ministries should be established not in regional centers but in the second city of each respective province. Bagratyan believes that in order to relieve the capital, it is also essential to move all higher educational institutions to an Academic City and to decisively relocate large shopping centers from Yerevan.
