Zakharova on Macron's Slap: It Was from the Kremlin

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented today on the slap received by French President Emmanuel Macron from his wife, joking that the blow might also have been "from the Kremlin." The incident occurred earlier today when Macron arrived in Vietnam. As the airplane door opened, reporters captured the moment when Macron was struck in the face by his wife, Brigitte, although she was not fully visible in the video.

Initially, the Elysee Palace denied the occurrence. However, once it became clear that the video had spread across numerous media outlets, a source close to the president announced that it was a "family dispute."

“I will give you a hint. Perhaps it was the 'hand of the Kremlin,'” Zakharova joked.
