Lavrov Came to Armenia to Warn or Intimidate Us, Melkonyan Says
Sergei Lavrov came to Armenia to warn us not to even think about Europe, said Gagik Melkonyan, a member of the National Assembly's Civil Contract faction, in an interview with NEWS.am.
"The main issue was that he was warning us, it could also be said he was intimidating us, that the doors of Europe are closed for you," the MP stated.
In response to the observation whether this means Armenia is gaining a new enemy in Russia, Melkonyan replied: "First of all, we are not acquiring an enemy; we have been age-old friends with Russia. For centuries, our territories have been handed over to neighboring states, and we have patiently swallowed all of this. They have given our territories to Turkey, the last gift was in 2020 when they handed Artsakh over to Azerbaijan."
