Azerbaijan's Response to Pashinyan's Speech

Nicola Pashinyan's position expressed during the "Yerevan Dialogue" event not only indicates that Armenia is not ready to change its Constitution to abandon "territorial claims" and resolve the existing issues in the peace process but also raises questions regarding the country's sincerity towards peace. This was stated by Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aikhan Hajizade.

Ignoring calls for the official dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group and linking that issue with the peace treaty raises questions about why Yerevan seeks to maintain an outdated mechanism that does not correspond to the new realities in the region. Since the conflict addressed by the Minsk Group has been resolved, Azerbaijan rightfully demands its dissolution. Delaying this step only deepens doubts about Armenia's true intentions,” he said.

Hajizade also touched on the issue of opening communication routes, stating, “Azerbaijan's position concerning uninterrupted transit aligns with the principles of regional cooperation and economic integration and cannot in any way be interpreted as disrespect for Armenia's sovereignty. Armenia's resistance and the proposal of complicated transit routes are slowing down progress and contradict the declarations regarding the importance of regional cooperation.”

It should be noted that Pashinyan announced that the agenda for the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group is acceptable for Yerevan and that the Armenian side is ready to move forward, but on the other hand, wants to ensure that Armenia and Azerbaijan perceive the situation in the same way.
