At Least 40 Dead, Including Father and His Five Children: Consequences of Israel's Night Raid
The Israeli army has carried out a series of strikes on the Gaza Strip, resulting in at least 40 casualties. Among them, 25 were killed in an attack on a school building in the Daraj neighborhood, which was serving as a shelter, according to AP citing local officials.
The attack occurred while people were asleep. Israel claims that a command center for the Palestinian Hamas group was located in the school.
As a result of the strikes, more than 55 people have also been injured. Among the deceased are a father and his five children. Property belonging to peaceable residents inside the building was also set on fire.
According to local al-Shifa hospital data, a separate attack also targeted a residential building, claiming the lives of 15 family members, including five women and two children.
In May, Israel commenced a new ground operation in the Gaza Strip called “Gideon’s Chariot,” aimed at establishing stricter operational control over the Palestinian enclave and eliminating the command structure of Hamas.
