Iran Submits Complaint Against French Embassy Advisor
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the advisor of the French Embassy, submitting a complaint regarding remarks made by France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrault. This was reported by ISNA.
Mohammad Tanhaei, head of the Western Europe department of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, called the French diplomatic advisor to Tehran and expressed dissatisfaction over the minister's "derogatory" comments and "baseless statements" regarding the Islamic Republic.
According to France 24, the summons was prompted by Barrault's remarks concerning Iranian dissident filmmaker Jafar Panahi’s film "It Was Just an Accident," which received the top award at the Cannes Film Festival. Specifically, Barrault stated that the award was received "as a sign of resistance against the oppression of the people by the Iranian regime."
