Collision Could Not Be Prevented: Details on the Death of a Young Man

On May 25, 2025, at 14:35, a tragic incident occurred on the Ejmiatsin–Masis railway segment that resulted in a fatality. The crew of a passenger electric train traveling from Gyumri to Yerevan noticed a person standing on the railway tracks, approximately 130 meters away from the train, facing away from it.

This information was reported by the South Caucasus Railways Company. The driver immediately sounded the horn and applied emergency braking, but the collision could not be avoided. The young man succumbed to his severe injuries. Following the emergency braking, the train continued moving inertly for about 380 meters. Precise data regarding the driving conditions will become clear after analyzing the speedometer tape. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the relevant authorities.

Earlier, on May 25 at 14:39, the National Crisis Management Center was informed that a teenager had fallen under a passenger train servicing the Yerevan-Gyumri route near the village of Jrarat in the Armavir Province and had died.
