Trump Presents Europe with a Choice
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he does not intend to reconsider his decision to impose a 50% tariff on imports from the EU but has confirmed his willingness to engage in negotiations. He made this statement in the Oval Office of the White House.
The U.S. president does not expect to reach a trade deal with the EU. “I have no hope for a trade deal with Europe. Either companies move production to the U.S., or they will pay the tariff,” Trump stated. According to him, European companies can avoid tariffs by setting up factories within U.S. territory.
Trump also added that the proposed policy of imposing tariffs is not aimed at confrontation; on the contrary, it is designed to create incentives for returning industrial capabilities and jobs to the American economy.
