Peskov on Reports of Negotiations in the Vatican
The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, has stated that there are no agreements regarding negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement taking place in the Vatican.
"No, there are no agreements on this matter," Peskov said in response to a journalist's question about whether there is any new information regarding the upcoming negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Pope Leo XIV has expressed interest in hosting negotiations between Russia and Ukraine at the Vatican. He mentioned this on his Truth Social platform on the evening of May 19.
"The Vatican, represented by the Pope, has announced that it is very interested in hosting the negotiations. Let the process begin!" Trump tweeted.
Earlier, the Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that a round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine could take place in the Vatican in mid-June.
