Any unblocking must be under the national sovereignty of Armenia: ambassador
Naturally, we support peace. We have also supported the peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and will continue to do so. This was stated today, on May 22, by the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Iran to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhanian, during his visit to Syunik.
"We believe that the signing of a peace agreement serves the interests of both countries and also those of the region. We are ready to contribute to the process of signing that agreement. As you know, we previously welcomed the Prime Minister of Armenia's peace crossroads project. This could be an opportunity for the unblocking of the region. It would contribute to the prosperity of the region, as transportation is the basis of the economy and this can greatly assist in transfers within the region.
You know that we are not opposed to unblocking; you know our position. However, any unblocking must be under Armenia's national sovereignty. I believe that project will also facilitate the movement of goods in the region. Everyone should welcome the peace agreement," said the ambassador.
