US Warns of an 'Unprecedented Scale War' Coming

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that Syria could soon be plunged into a new civil war or face a complete government collapse within just a few weeks, as reported by the New York Post.

“In our assessment, the transitional government is only a few weeks away from possible collapse and an epic-scale widespread civil war that would lead to the fragmentation of the country,” Rubio said.

He warned that simply easing sanctions “will not be sufficient” to stabilize the situation in Syria and suggested that “something must be undertaken at the level of Congress or a more comprehensive level” to revive the country after more than 14 years of civil war.

Rubio also cautioned that if Syria collapses again, it could lead to chaos throughout the Middle East, emphasizing that the country has become a “playground for jihadist groups” since the civil war erupted in March 2011.
