Lavrov on Rising Tensions in the Region and Disregard for Certain Countries' Interests

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, has stated that Russia is concerned about emerging issues in the South Caucasus. He made this remark during a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

“We are convinced that the issues arising in the South Caucasus should primarily be resolved by the local countries and neighboring states. We do not oppose extraregional countries developing their relations with the countries here, provided that such cooperation is not aimed at creating tensions in the region or disregarding the interests of the local countries,” said Sergey Lavrov.

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, they are interested in Armenia's active participation in the CSTO.
