Peskov on the Conditions for the Meeting Between Putin and Trump

The press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, has stated that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump is necessary, emphasizing the need for serious discussions on international issues, including the Ukrainian crisis.

It is worth noting that Trump announced in Abu Dhabi that his meeting with President Putin would take place as soon as it could be organized. “Such a meeting is undoubtedly necessary. It is essential not only for the bilateral relations between Russia and the U.S., but also for discussing international issues and regional processes at a high level, including, of course, the crisis surrounding Ukraine,” Peskov said.

He also added that communications between the presidents of Russia and the U.S. are extremely important in the context of resolving the situation in Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that such meetings must be well-prepared. “The meeting at the top must be prepared, and it should be effective because expert negotiations, consultations, and prolonged preparation always precede high-level meetings,” Peskov stated.
