Qatar Not Planning to Gift Boeing 747-8 to Trump

Qatar is not planning to gift a Boeing 747-8 aircraft to U.S. President Donald Trump, but is discussing the possibility of the aircraft's transfer at an official intergovernmental level. This was stated by Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in an interview with CNN.

“This is a very straightforward intergovernmental agreement. The Qatari Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Department of Defense are discussing the possibility of using one of our 747-8 aircraft as Air Force One. This issue is currently in the legal review phase,” said Al Thani.

At the same time, Al Thani indicated that the proposal for the aircraft's transfer would be withdrawn if it were deemed “illegal.” Earlier, it was reported that President Donald Trump's administration was preparing to receive the Boeing 747-8 jet from the Qatari royal family, referred to as the “Flying Palace.” Trump would be able to use this gift while in office, according to sources familiar with the deal, as reported by ABC News.
