If I Don’t Go, He Won’t Go Either: Trump
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that there will be no progress in peaceful negotiations regarding Ukraine until he meets with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Reuters reports this.
“Nothing is going to happen until we meet with Putin. It’s clear that he was planning to go, thinking that I would be there too. But if I don’t go, he won’t go either,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One.
Trump added, “I’m not disappointed. I haven’t even checked. Why should I care about that? We just secured a $4 trillion investment, and you’re asking about the delegation.” He emphasized that the conflict should be resolved as soon as possible.
It is noteworthy that negotiations are set to take place today in Turkey between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine. The Russian delegation is already in Istanbul, headed by President Putin’s aide Vladimir Medinsky. The delegation also includes Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, Chief of the General Staff Igor Kostyukov, and Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin. The Ukrainian delegation, led by President Vladimir Zelensky, is also in Istanbul.
