Attempted Attack on Russian Oil Tankers

Attempted Attack on Russian Oil Tankers

The Estonian naval forces attempted to seize Russian-crewed JAGUAR oil tankers traveling in neutral waters towards Primorsk, but the attempt was unsuccessful, according to Russian media reports.

During the operation, the Estonians utilized a helicopter, a ship, and NATO fighter jets, threatening to board and attempting to land troops on the vessel. However, the crew did not respond to the warnings, and subsequently, a Russian Su-35 aircraft took to the air, causing the pursuit to cease.

Following the incident, Estonia accused Russia of violating its airspace and summoned the Russian chargé d'affaires in Estonia, Lenar Salimulin, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was handed a note of protest.

The oil tankers were operating under the Gabonese flag and were heading to a Russian port.
