Brutal Clashes in Tripoli

Brutal clashes have erupted in Tripoli, as reported by local media. “The Ministry of Interior calls on all residents of Tripoli to stay at home and avoid going out for their safety due to ongoing clashes involving the 444th Combat Brigade, supported by the Misrata Brigade and the Security and Stability Maintenance apparatus,” said the Ministry of Interior.

The clashes began following the assassination of Chief of Staff Abdelghani al-Kikli. Intense gunfire has been heard in the Ain Zara and Salah al-Din neighborhoods to the south of Tripoli. A significant amount of military equipment is currently being brought into the city.

The Mitiqa International Airport in the capital has suspended its operations.
